Automation of shuttle yarn winding
Master Thesis Proposal in Robotics and AI
StoorStålka company provides DIY kits for band weaving where shuttles come pre-loaded with yarn. Loading a weaving shuttle with yarn is a time consuming and repetitive task and this compounds when assembling hundreds of DIY kits. Thus, StoorStålka in collaboration with Robotic and AI are looking for a master student who can find a solution to automate the shuttle loading process.
This master thesis involves working on:
Analysis of the current winding process and how it affects the functionality of the shuttle.
Identification of the key issues and obstacles for automation process and suggestion of the potential automation solutions. Identification of potential environments for simulation.
The development of concepts in simulation environment for the most promising automation solutions, with possible evaluation of these concepts (If time span allows). At least one concept will be fully developed.
The participant has a weekly discussion with her/his supervisor in order to be guided.
