Space Laboratory

The Space Lab of the Robotics and AI (RAI) group at Luleå University is a specialized research facility designed to simulate space-like environments for advanced experimentation. The lab is equipped with a 4x4-meter flat resin table and low-friction platforms, which enable precise simulations of movement in microgravity conditions. Black-out curtains create a controlled dark-room environment, ideal for experiments sensitive to light. The lab also includes a Vicon tracking system for high-accuracy motion tracking and a versatile overhead manipulator, which can be configured for various applications, such as simulating planetary tracking or solar following. Additional resources include a high-pressure filling station and Wi-Fi connectivity, supporting a wide range of research applications in space robotics and related fields.
